Introduction

National Charity League, Inc. was formed as a non-profit organization.  Its purpose is to bring together in one group, mothers and daughters working in a social, cultural and philanthropic program.  National Charity League, Inc. is known as the "Original Mother-Daughter Charity" and is unique in that there is no other organization like it in the country.

The Ventura Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. was organized in 1959 and chartered in 1960.  The current philanthropies chosen by our chapter are:  American Cancer Society, Assistance League School, Boys & Girls Club of Camarillo, Camarillo Ranch House, Children's Services Auxiliary, various convalescent hospitals, Douglas Penfield School, Easter Seals Preschool, Food Share, Gull Wing's Children's Museum, Habitat for Humanity, HELP of Ojai, Hospital Junior Volunteer Programs, New West Symphony, Project Understanding, Santa Paula Theatre, Special Olympics and the Ventura County Libraries.  Patronesses and Ticktockers are also active in many other philanthropic projects.

Through all our activities, we strive to promote the National Charity League, Inc. motto:

"We search for charity within ourselves and seek for the graciousness to share it with others."

Our Program:  Philanthropic, Educational and Cultural

Each chapter of National Charity League, Inc. encompasses a four-prong approach and includes philanthropic, educational, leadership and cultural components.  Chapters consider the local community's needs and select philanthropies to support.  Support is provided through the donation of time and organizational skills and may include fundraising.  Educational activities are designed to teach daughters to be self-assured young women in today's society, to demonstrate good manners, to respect others and to develop leadership skills.  Cultural events help members develop community awareness and cultural sensitivity.
